Rory comes from the Scottish Highlands and does not much care for people. She certainly doesn't care what they think of her and her rude ways. Nor does she bother much with rules or regulations - or laws. When she's caught hacking into a government computer they persuade her to come work for them instead of being arrested. Much to the dismay of those she's assigned to. After an incident, she is shipped to America to work with American Intelligence, and becomes the problem of John Black, a very large, very proper Black man she proceeds to mock and insult. It is dislike at first sight, even though they are irresistibly attracted to each other. Their relationship becomes fiercely competitive, and then fiercely sexual, with Rory becoming astonished at discovering she has a very submissive side. She does her best to provoke more of the same while the two of them attempt to deal with Chinese agents recruiting in New York's high tech industry.
