Marina Anderson was born in 1945 and was raised mainly in Newcastle, where she has spent the main part of her life. She has always loved writing, only taking it up seriously after her retirement, and the passing of her Mother, at which point she began looking back at her childhood which was anything but uneventful. She has written many poems, and is known locally for her water colours, and has had showings of her work. She is married with two daughters, and two grandchildren. This is the first book she has undertaken.
When I look back on my childhood I am amazed at the challenges I overcame, and the hardships we endured. When Mam passed away the memories of all of this came flooding back, too many to recall off hand so I began to write them down. Before I knew it the book was writing itself, one memory led to another. This has been an emotional journey but one I am thankful for in the end.
